InMind

CASE NR.1

A Bridge Between Mind and Technology

InMind is an innovative project that bridges neuroscience with UX/UI design to tackle the silent epidemic of mental health conditions. Through fNIRS technology and a wearable device, the project aims to provide non-invasive detection and treatment for conditions such as anxiety, stress, and depression.

Overview

Challenge

Problem Description: Mental illness is an escalating global concern. The lack of early detection methods and accessible treatments underscores the need for innovative solutions.
Project Objectives: To develop a solution that allows users to monitor and manage their mental health through advanced, accessible technology.

Process

Research and Development:
  • Initial Research: Deep dive into neuroscience to understand the fundamentals of mental illnesses and how technology can effectively intervene.

  • Technology Development: Using fNIRS to monitor brain oxygenation and detect patterns associated with mental disorders.

  • UX/UI Design: Creating an intuitive system that integrates diagnostic outcomes into a mobile and web application designed for accessibility and ease of use.

Design Iterations:

  • Developing prototypes and conducting user tests to refine the interface and user experience.

  • Adaptations based on feedback to enhance functionality and accessibility.

Solution

Description of the Final Product:

  • A wearable device utilizing fNIRS to monitor brain activity.

  • An app offering real-time analysis, personalized advice, and treatment tracking.

  • App features like emotion tracking, customized recommendations, and a support community.

Impact (Results):

  • Selected as one of the top projects to participate in the TFM awards in Spain, highlighting its innovation and potential impact on mental health.

  • Received notable feedback and demonstrated interest in the potential implementation of the project.
